Our mission

To work towards zero impact from fibre fragmentation from textiles to the natural environment.

The Microfibre Consortium work to connect deep academic research with the reality of commercial supply chain production. Our goal is to offer solutions to brands, retailers and manufacturers to transform textile production for the greater good of our ecosystems.

The microfibre roadmap details the path forward and the specific steps we will take to meet our commitment, setting out clear milestones.

A global commitment to work towards zero impact from fibre fragmentation from textiles to the natural environment by 2030.

Our value

The Microfibre Consortium convenes a global community of organisations, leading the way toward mitigating fibre fragmentation from textile design, development and manufacturing through science-led action.

We take a holistic approach to create change through design & development and in manufacturing.

    • Collaborating to influence regulatory policy development

    • Partnering with relevant groups to harmonise and amplify effort

    • Building collective understanding across a broad community of stakeholders

  • Lead with industry informed research and root cause understanding

    • Driving industry informed research

    • Being science-led and data-driven

    • Developing root cause understanding

  • Equip and empower the sector with tools and insights to make and measure change

    • Prioritising product change through design and development

    • Addressing fibre fragment release to wastewater

    • Empowering the full value chain, leveraging business relationships

a science led and data driven vision to mitigate microfibre pollution

A reimagined future of reduced fibre fragmentation through targeted action, can’t be achieved alone…
